Getting our hands dirty.

Since retiring from the international volleyball scene some years ago, Fuse director Leigh Cockerill has tried her hand at a few different sports. Fast becoming the firm favourite is Adventure Racing – a combination of multi-sport and orienteering. With a regular crew of like-minded outdoorsy types, Leigh has been running, mountainbiking, kayaking and climbing all over the New Zealand countryside, locating obscure checkpoints with the aid of a map and compass.

Over summer, the adventure race season is in full swing and there is a busy programme of events over the next few months. The sport is gaining momentum in NZ as more and more people are getting out into the wilderness, trail running and riding off-road.

Always looking for new ways to get our brand out in the public eye, Fuse Creative are supporting Leigh’s AR team by providing custom-made race and training gear with full Fuse branding. In the course of designing the gear, there have been some heated debates on what is and what isn’t ‘de rigeur’ in lycra (some arguing that lycra itself was a fashion crime!). Finally a design was settled on and is proving so popular that our first order of gear amounted to over 60 garments, with staff, friends and family all enjoying some new threads.

With cycle safety being very much in the news at the moment, we hope that the new Fuse gear will be sufficiently hi-vis to be safe, without being an eye-sore. Look out for us around the streets and trails of NZ over the summer. The Fuse Creative AR team will be rocking their new gear in races during February, March and April – somewhere in a forest near you!!
