Final Planning Meeting for Auckland Events! Arrival of Peace March participants in Auckland Official welcome by the greeting committee Auckland City is pleased to greet the international team and all who arrive to take part in opening events for the World March for Peace and Nonviolence. Auckland is New Zealand's largest urban area, with a population of just over a million people. The city's landscape is dominated by volcanic hills, the twin harbours, bays, beaches and islands. Its nickname 'the city of sails' is very apt. Auckland has more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world. Auckland is dotted with volcanic hills, many of which were once the site of Maori pas, or fortified villages, and which currently afford great views of the city. Auckland Peace Heritage Walk An Auckland event for the Global March for Peace and Nonviolence and a United Nations International Day of Peace event. Participants start the walk at Queen Elizabeth II Square and vist a number of peace heritage sites around the central city. The walk will end at St-Matthew-in-the-City with a celebration including music and presentations on the theme of peace.12:30-2:30pm.

Massive Final Act of the World March for Peace and Nonviolence After traveling 200 thousand kilometers, the international team of the World March arrived today, January 2, at the Park of Study and Reflection Punta de Vacas in Argentina. Close to 20,000 people heard the representatives of the World March from Chile, Argentina, India, Italy, the Philippines, Spain and England that circled the globe calling for nuclear disarmament.
